1999 Chapter VI

September

I've the feeling that September is not my month....first, I got problems with our local Police, due to speed excess...with my 203!!!!

Last Sunday, a very nice and hot day, I remarked that the engine was heating up..and up....and up...I turned the heating on, the fan to, but there was no way, the engine was extremely hot (100 deg.cel.) I stopped, opened the radiator and water was missing....no problem, I've always a jerrycan with 10 liters with me.

Slowly i filled in around 2 liters, the temperature came down. O.K. But there was no leak....very strange.

I drove the remaining kilometers home, and 2 kilometers from my home, the same procedure restarts.

Monday I checked all what was possible, but I found nothing of wrong.

I took the waterpump off, checked if the pump-wheel was strongly connected to the drive shaft, all was O.K.

There was also no CO in the cooling circuit, what to do?

I took the cylinderhead off, and then I saw the disaster: The piston from the 1st cylinder was partially broken.

Today, Wednesday 16th, I took the remaining engine off, cleaned it up, took all the outside parts, like distributer, fuel pump etc. off and drove

the whole parts to a local engine specialist for re-building the engine like a new one.

It's really mony consuming, my hobby.....

I will add more pictures, but the first one taken with a digital camera will show you the damaged piston (inside the red circle)
