1999 Chapter I

  January

Hi dear 203 Peugeot fans,

First off all I wish you a happy new year, health and lots of fun.

By checking Restoration Pictures of my 203 you can see that this past "Vacation" period was very "hard"

for me and my 203.

The progresses performed since a month are really great. Yesterday we finished the welding work on the body .

But there is still a lot of remaining work: The 4 doors need to be repaired on the lower, exterior side, that means that Fernando will cut off around 3-5 cm, fabricate an appropriate piece, weld and adjust it that finally it will look like it was before.

As you can see on the pictures the car is "nude", that means that I took off the whole paint . The reason is that with the time, very small rust-points where under the paint and the only way to avoid getting "Miracles" a short time after the repainting was to proceed in this manner. The work was described here in 3 lines, but it took about a week to realize it.

I ordered 7 different spare parts catalogues for 203, specially for the gaskets and seals that I will replace.

There are some differences in the prices, but globally they are close together.

I was afraid what all this shops will ask for a new car interior, it's really to expensive. The rubber parts (gaskets) for the body (Like windshield - exterior and interior windows - body seals...) will be around 800$.

My good, old father said me yesterday that he will realize all the interior staff for my, including seats, ceiling and door panels. Great and a big thank you!

Next week I will take off the ceiling and then I'll buy the required material.

The next step will be to fix the front wings on the car. Then I'll need to redo all the fixation points disappeared with the add off new metal sheets.

The last news are: I'll have very soon a place at  Peugeot -Freunde & Fan Club Deutschland , Old-timer.

There I'll write  as "columnist" the 203 history ( for now in German, later also in English) including pictures and all what I'll find around in news papers.

It will be more a "Central data collection" about the 203. If somebody will do the same or can give me more information, pictures ... feel free to do it All help is welcome.
