1998 Chapter IV

October

I was now 2 times in Nancy, at the retro-show: the 1st and the last time!

They have really a nice location there, but , in comparison with the Metz show the "content" was very poor.....

The season starts now with "anti-vintage-car-weather" and I did yesterday the last trip with my 203. I drove a little bit trough France (The france border is at 2 km from my home) and the only old car that I saw was a Citroen Ds.

I did now around 4000km with the 203. I got some problems, specially the brakes, the fuel tank and the clutch.

But, I think that every owner from an old car can be proud to run his vehicle (often quit old....) during summer.

The feeling is great :  First, you can enjoy yourself, by driving trough the roads you'll forget all the former performed (hard and stressing)work,

when the young and older people will ask you: Hey, what brand is it- how old is the car - it's in a very good shape for this age - former the bodys, the paint...where better then today....these are the standard remarks and questions.

But, lets think future:

Next weekend I'll start to redo a second life to my 203:

First I'll take out the engine for replacing all the gaskets, because it leaks.

The next step will be the body: A complete exterior restauration will be done over winter. I'll get the (paid) help from a professional and I promise you to do a complete documentation with pictures, tips and tricks, and, of course, bills.

I hope that the car will be ready for eastern 1999.

Oops, I forgot: In January will be the 44th birtday of my 203....

Today, the 24th I took off the engine of my 203. The reason is:

First, I'll repaint the engine compartment

Second, the gaskets are quit old and leaking oil...I'll change them all.

I got a little helper for the engine take out: JASMINE, Joel's daughter ( you know, the MG-B owner)
