201 M 1937
Now that the formalities are over, i would like to attach some more pictures of another 201m that is still living in SA. The 201 is in process of restoration. The owner is also looking for various bits & pieces and will contact you in due course.

"Hi Francois,

Many thanks for the e-mail and the photos.  Looks like you are an enthusiast on Peugeots.  I still have a 504 saloon (it has not even done 100,000 km yet) and we had the 403 diesel pick-up in Zimbabwe.  Best car I ever had.  We would have brought it down when we left but we were only allowed one vehicle so we brought down my first restoration project, a 1917 21/2 ton Menominee.  It is the only model known to exist according to the Truck club in the States.  Unfortunately, the 403 was a French import and there were no spares available in SA.

The following two photos are of the Peugeot when we found it.  The darker photo shows it in the farmer's barn..  It is a 201M-A6Y model, only 4400 odd were ever made.  It was the deluxe version of the 201M series, dated by Peugeot in France as being exported on the 13th May 1937. I am missing the carb, some hubcaps, the lights, and some instruments.  Also the radiator - it was with the car but was stolen from our home!!  We did have the car running. The engine is being reconditioned at the moment - apart from a broken ring and one con-rod which needs to have a new white metal bearing, the rest of the engine appears to be in very good condition.  The gearbox needs two new synchros (I am having a problem finding them) and the back axil is now off and will be disassembled soon.  Tyres are a problem - it took a 140X40 tyre, (153/4 inch rim - only the French could come up with that size!!!)

I have a fair amount of technical information on the 201 (from Peugeot, France) so, if you would like copies, let me know.  I also have the chassis numbers for dating.

Best regards,

Hilmar"
